My work consists of individual series that explore ordinary and common objects and routines. The use of found materials, repetition, and images of everyday life contain reflections on consciousness and the nature of being that I find to be inspirational. I pursue illumination of the junction between the personal and the universal through the investigation of information from a contemporary existence. These pieces of information form a network of time passages, subtle humor and fragile connections through serial arrangement.
Collecting is a powerful tactic for me to make sense out of the world and for observing actions analytically. I only collect things that resonate, things that have volatile or ephemeral character. These include letters, notes, bookmarks, bird wings, bones, etc., which are used as artistic materials, simultaneously serving as documentary of my everyday existence and that of others. I seek to preserve, catalogue, and study these items with the rigor applied to other kinds of documents, such as books, maps, prints, and archival material because they all contain instants of lived experience. I am not interested in capturing them, but rather in analyzing and reflecting on the significance of the instant. I present the recognition of daily activities such as dreaming, playing, reading, cleaning, walking, and the observation of light via their connection to souvenirs produced by them.
The entire history of an object or action remains eternally obscured by the finiteness of our lives and the physical dissolution of information. However, I propose to extend an invitation to an exploration of the moment through the seriality of collected data.
